We come to remember yesterday, enjoy today and live for what comes next! Camp De Lorenzo is our Special Place. I created and updated this page during June to include a "snapshot" of our life and times for our summertime. Frankly, not much will change as we are living a layback and simple life. We hope to enjoy lots more of the same life, i.e., hiking, BBQ's, simple outings, etc. So, my next update will include possible Status Updates to include any/all new events, such as further visits by our son John and Anh this Fall. The only events now foreseen will include a visit to NYC for Paulina's Mama's Annual Memorial and then our trip and vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC in November. Some events such as our work on cleaning up the forest and timber trails will be posted in my YouTube library and FaceBook. We're officially "Snow Birds", living in the Adirondacks from May until November when we'll be returning to Tucson, AZ. Our goal is to enjoy the peace and serenity of country with all the amenities of nature. The slideshow includes photos of summer at our place. Our place in the Adirondacks is located on Schroon River and includes a camp with 2 houses and 8 other structures. We use the Main House for our purposes with the 2nd house available for our family visitors. Many years ago, our place was a logging camp. Then, a family setup 2 homes. The parents lived in the main house and their son and his family lived in the 2nd house. The campsite is now about 30 years old, and is a rustic, mid-century dated lifestyle. Both homes are only about 1,500 sq. ft. By comparison to our home in Tucson, the housing is very simple and basic. Our Main House is our preference in that it includes 2 bedrooms and 1 bath plus a den and indoor/outdoor room. While the den includes a pull out bed in a couch, we only use it for our library and family room. The house, decks, and proximity to the river allows us to enjoy the summertime lifestyle. Our Guest House includes 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, with a large outdoor deck off the kitchen. The furnishings are sparse but comfortable. The 2nd house is located just up our road and is closest to our "Jasmine's Meadow". Both homes have nice views of the forest which surrounds us. Besides the streams and ponds, we've got 4+ acres on the river. The property is 1/5 the size of NYC's Central Park. The water and 149 acres of woods offer a relaxing and beautiful setting. We enjoy hiking it all, and seeing the wildlife and scenery. Check out the gallery below for a comprehensive tour of our home and property. We enjoy hiking out and around our property, with stops for the ponds and streams to enjoy nature. The Schroon river is just across the main road. We're especially happy with our river and the shady beach area. Our place on the river allows us swimming, hiking, rafting, fishing and simple relaxation in the shade. This page includes a sample of our life and times at Schroon River. We hope you enjoy sharing our exploits and that you have a great summer too. We do most of our dining at home, with lots of simple meals and BBQ. We, and our guests can enjoy tennis, ping pong, hiking, tv, movies, music and tv. Our music and movie library is available via our wi-fi network. We've added a network drive to allow for us and our visitors to access our film library Besides access to the Internet, we've added Direct TV and our own library of movies, tv shows and lots of music. This provides relaxing rainy days and night time entertainment. I also have many more items in our DVD library too. The Good LifeFamily time is our favorite time. We enjoyed showing son John our home and community. Son John visited with us to celebrate Father's Day, it truly was a beautiful weekend. Checkout our photos and slideshow. Warrensburg, NYHeading into town to shop and pick up John at the bus stop. Fun Around The Home Fires TooDining Out in Lake GeorgeLake George and surroundings is a main tourist area, especially the cruises that include seeing lots of nature .. as well as an opportunity to dine at any of the many fun places. Checkout our cruise and dining at the Lobster Pot in Lake George. Dining on Schroon RiverSchroon River flows across the lower level of our property, and through Warrensburg in town. We enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Grist Mill, which is situated on the river bank. Besides the wonderful setting, the food .. service .. and romantic setting added to our evening. Lake George CruiseWe did a cruise up the 32 mile Lake George over 6 hours Besides simple meals at home, we're enjoying some fun out too. A real favorite of ours, as well as the locals, is a place called George Henry's. Check out some fun photos. Great food, prices and fun. The first set of photos include take out, and the second set is dine in .. It's only 7 miles up our country road and the first spot we hit in town. The Adirondacks, especially our neck of the woods, also has lots of variety of restaurants and fun places to enjoy. There's a wide variety of foods and places to explore. Seeing the Sights in Lake GeorgeLake George is the "Main Attraction" in the Adirondacks. Besides the Lake George Cruise, it is the home of Fort William Henry which dates back to the 1750's. Son John and I did a Boys Day Out and got to spend time enjoying the fort, lunch overlooking the lake and finally some time down at the park and beach. Check out some of my photos and/or the slideshow which includes our adventures. Fort Ticonderoga TooIn addition to Fort William Henry, there's a much bigger fort .. Fort Ticonderoga. It too has lots of history dating back to the mid-1700's. Paulina and son John, like most tourists, enjoyed seeing the sights. Wine And Food FestivalThe Lake George area includes many outdoor events, especially during the summer. Checkout some photos from one such event. At the Wine & Food Festival in Lake George, NY: Distilleries, wineries/vinyards, and breweries abound in Upstate NYS! Toto had a chance to sample some mead, hard cider, vodka, whisky, and beer! (No interest in wines, hehe.). See video of entrance over stream, click for video of entrance to festival, over stream Paulina and Son John enjoyed some fun in Lake George. Events occur often and are aimed at enjoying life. For some live video, click link here. Lucky Lane gets a FaceliftThis year, we're working on the great outdoors. First, a new road to replace the dirt road. Then, we'll be doing lots more in Jasmine's Meadow and the main hiking trails along the mountains streams leading up the mountain. This will improve our trails leading to an upper meadow for picnics and exploring nature. We've been doing work to "beautify" our home on the river. Last year, we focused on doing some repairs and work on the structures. This year, we're mainly focused on upgrading our main road, as well as doing lots of outdoor clean up and timber clearing. Making Memories DailyI'll be adding more photos and videos over our summer of fun.
