Paulina and I were blessed with a son, John. Hard to believe where time has gone, but it certainly has been interesting and bountiful. We were 40 years old when son John arrived, and our photo journal shows our lives and adventures over the years. Despite all the ups and downs of life we've managed to maintain our family and dignity.
A main goal was to provide the life, home and business as our legacy for John and our descendants. As 4th and 5th generation real estate owners, we are all happy to see our contributions and efforts succeed. Today, John is responsible for all of our business endeavors. Perhaps even more important to us all personally, John was responsive for finding and restoring the place we now call home. This too took significant amounts of time, effort and money, but we love it ... especially now that we're in our golden years.
Our life now affords us the opportunity to truly spend our time doing the things that are most important to us. While we still have some chores, and enjoy getting out periodically, we are mainly "home bodies"
We spend most of our time enjoying our garden, mountain and city views. We use a landscape company to maintain the lawns and new plantings, while we tend to the daily tasks. Tucson is a 3 season climate, no winter!
Our landscaping has been setup so that there is always something in bloom. We enjoy seeing the gardens change color all year long.
Paulina enjoys working with the plants, bushes, ground cover, trees and new additions, while my focus is on the lawns in both the front and north gardens. This provides some exercise and allows for us to maintain the beauty of our surroundings.
To begin with, we have a long driveway and area we call "the River Walk". The driveway is lined with 44 Cyprus trees on the east side and the River Walk contains our tiered mountain setting with views of the creek along our western side of the property.
The front of our home faces west and is the main garden area. We enjoy countless coffee breaks simply relaxing and watching the wildlife and blooms all year long. Besides the front lawn, we also have a special area designated "Point Lookout", which affords us panoramic views.
The North garden is also off our Great Room and provides views of the garden there as well as our beautiful mountain setting and our fruit orchards. Most of the fruit is for the many varieties of birds that frequent our grounds. There is also a balcony off the Master Bedroom/Study that allows some unique views of our North garden and the mountains to the east.
We also have a BBQ and outdoor dining area just below the north garden and outside our kitchen. This provides views of the mountains to the east as well as some nice city views.
Last, but not least, our pool and spa area provide us with the beauty and majesty of mountain and city views from atop our grounds. This is a most favorite of us and our visitors. I and our guests spend lots and lots of times doing BBQ and relaxing by the pool.
Our Morning Routine
We enjoy time with our pet, Mr Lucky, and enjoying nature at home. We also try to maintain a daily photo journal of our exploits and adventures.
Time to enjoy nature
Lots of Nature and Wildlife with Us
Roaming our streets and hillside daily
Paulina and I really love seeing our grounds every day, many of our shows include it all at various times of the year and Day. We especially enjoy seeing all the wildlife. Paulina had captured some great photos, which are included below in our show. The show is called "Lost", as Paulina had inadvertently forgotten to move the photos from her camera. Fortunately, the photos were found.
Some photos of Javelina, which are a daily sighting in and around Tucson
Last of the pack, heading up our eastern side of our home
My Way
We're out and enjoying the start of our weekend, and I'm going on about Frank Sinatra and his life, but Paulina Cortes-De Lorenzo is ignoring me, taking photos and videos and playing with Mr Lucky ... lol Inadvertently, I got recorded as part of the "noise". My monologue included a brief commentary from having recently seen the documentary about Frank. Despite his early success, he tried Rock and Roll when his career had disappeared, and failed. However, Capitol took him on and the rest of his career was higher then ever. Watch and listen carefully, click on the link above for the video and my tale ... lol
4/17/15: The Gambel's Quail hunting for a worm and Mahal John De Lorenzo doing a monologue on Frank Sinatra!!! Early in the morning!
Realizing Our Dreams
Like many others, we spent our lives working and doing ... with little time to "smell the flowers". Most of our time was spent away from home with little time to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
Today, we are especially grateful for the time we've had and to look at the past and present. We now give thanks for all the many years we've had together and our accomplishments. With son John's 30th birthday, we celebrated our family and all of our many memories with a very special night out and a time for us.
