An American TraditionAmerica has celebrated Independence Day since 1776, and it is a wonderful way to remember all of our veterans and the many freedoms we all enjoy. This year was a 4 day holiday weekend. We enjoyed it all, the sights .. and simple events marking the holiday. The Adirondacks is considered by many to be the birthplace of it all. Although we love our summer life, the 4th of July truly represents the best of it all. It was fun being out and about. We had fun seeing our community over the holiday. Lots of people biking, hiking, boating, shopping and dining. The weather too did it's part in providing lots of beauty for us and all the many visitors and tourists. We too, enjoyed the great weather, sight seeing and a relaxing holiday time. Like many others we enjoyed watching the annual concert and fireworks live from Washington, DC. The fireworks were spectacular. See some of our memories of a special time in our special place! The 4th of July is the official beginning of Summer. It is, and has been, celebrated with lots of food and fun. Besides all the outdoor events, the main attraction is the fireworks and BBQ's all across the USA. Checkout a fun recipe for Chicken and Mushroom sauce, I'll be making Chicken Thighs and Mushrooms BBQ We too will be doing some BBQ and relaxing at home. I'll be adding some more photos of our day on the river and home BBQ. Walking Timber RoadWith all the property, we've got lots and lots to hike and roam. However, I use the old timber road and river front for my regular exercise and daily routine. Although I do venture in back of Jasmine's Meadow, the path is thick with overgrowth and fallen limbs and trees. Hopefully, Todd and I will get the main clearing of the Jasmine's Meadow, the path to the upper meadow as well as many of the pretty hiking spots done within the coming months. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy seeing some of our nature trails. Making ReadyCleanup work and shopping for our BBQ Seeing Country RoadsGoing out for supplies is an adventure. We usually head to Queensbury, passing thru Warrensburg and Lake George. Lots of fun sights, including seeing the tourists and others out shopping. Checkout a typical ride, including some side roads and adventures. Finally, We CelebrateThe weather was beautiful, so we enjoyed time in the great outdoors. After my morning walk, we drove to a little town, Adirondack, on Lake George and enjoyed seeing the sights. Our community dates back to the early 1800's and is a very appropriate place to celebrate America's birthday. Although the 4 day holiday was traditional, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable way to celebrate and enjoy our 4th of July Then, we did our holiday BBQ at home ... family, fun and food! Checkout some of our photos for lots more.
