The Best of Times
We were gone for 10 months, last summer. We had had a very special time with family at Camp De Lorenzo (our Summer Place on Schroon River, Warrensberg, NY) See memories in our photo parade. You can also click on the album name "Family Times at Camp De Lorenzo for the photos.
Paulina, I, and Lucky are exploring our gardens and enjoying nature. Checkout our Flower Power in the photo parade. This year, we're enjoying home and times in Tucson. Son John and I had planned to travel to Bellingham, WA for another family time with my mothers' side of the family. However, this has been cancelled. Hopefully there will be other times. I'll be living a quiet life from May thru the end of Summer. So, my next post will be comprehensive and include any special events, i.e. bbq's, etc.during the quiet months. The Social Side of Life
Time to enjoy some of the fun side of life. April includes some fun at the U of A, attending a presentation and discussion about the Decameron. The Decameron is a collection of bawdy stories, written at the time of the Black Plague. It became a major issue for the religious movements for quite some time. Son John, Stan Duff and I attended the presentation. Later, son John and I stopped for a quick burger before heading home.
April is also when the Skyliner magazine is providing a community dinner at our home. This is something new for our community and for us. Skyliner hosted our party, together with their sponsors, which included Bob's BBQ (Brisket and Pulled Pork) and surprise gifts from the advertisers. I, and our neighbors, wonderful time. Special thanks to Leah and Paulina for providing me with some of the photos from yesterday. Checkout my photo parade below .. "Quiet Little Dinner for 35" Catch some of our adventures. Work Done and Plans Completed
Busy since we returned with our home and business .. work and fun.
Paulina, son John and I getting all of our home maintenance duties! Although we're still getting some repairs and Paulina's new Veggie Garden completed, we're now ready for our Summer. Lots of time and effort also spent mainly on completing our "real estate resale (flip), taking over the QuickBooks, completing work related to our home network and Property Management System Feasibility Study. Reviewed my remote access/portable HD resources, i.e., home and our summer place. Conclusion, existing facilities (using Screens App for remote access and continued use of MacBook Air notebook and "Big Boy" portable hard drive) still our best option for our road trips and extended get away trips. While there are some additional pros related to Plex, local cloud, etc., there are NO additional benefits for us. QuickBooks Upgraded our old software, and now setup for both our Family Trust and DLG Business Accounting. Doing our "books" to reduce bookkeeping expenses, improve our accounting and use as basis for our Property Management. Sincere appreciation to our "bookkeepers" for having done all the work to setup and maintain our books over the past, many years. We imported the books, making our setup and parallel easy. Now all we need do are the simple tasks of importing our income and expense info from our banks and bond management companies. This precludes any real manual effort (except for comparing our online statements to verify the input function. Awaiting month end to import/reconcile our income and expense information in May. Also, reviewed our desktop and online editions. Conclusion, the desktop is preferred for functionality, cost and security. Since QuickBooks already accommodates all of our Property Management needs, we have NO additional need for a separate standalone application. Property Management Software Feasibility Study Compared and evaluated development of commercial software package but the cost/benefit showed development and operating expensive NOT justified. Also concluded 2 simple, low cost options for standalone application available, i.e., FileMaker and AirTable. Setup my prototypes for both. Same Old, Same Old Life continues, we're now in "vacation mode", i.e., relaxing at home, dining and enjoying our Endless Summer. I don't expect any new updates to our website until our holiday/family events, except for some occasional photo parades which I routinely add to my YouTube Playlist.. Daily life continues but not much new to show and tell. My next update will be our ... Holidays. As always, I maintain a daily hobby of my FaceBook postings (old memories and interests). Have a great summer, thank for viewing.

The temps are now in the 80's and 90's, and the flowers are blooming. Work continues on our Spring Cleanup, trees and lawns being spruced up.
Today we enjoy a traditional home celebration for Easter. Paulina's been getting everything setup for a few days, and cooked a roast turkey and lamb .. with all the fixings. Besides church, and getting dinner ready, we enjoyed some time out. Beautiful weather and fun sights, i.e., hot air ballon, the wildlife and the smell of the flower blossoms wafting thru the air. We'll also be celebrating Paulina's birthday on Wednesday, dining out. Much of the month will include beginning to do our own "books", filing our taxes, relaxing with more BBQ and our Community Monthly Appreciation Event at the Skyline Country Club, and our special Dinner for the community at our home on April 28th. Next month, it's our Family Reunion in Bellingham, WA .. the countdown has begun. I'll be adding more photo parades for our fun stuff, and spending time in our "Outback" |
